Week 14 - Renaming the 816 components of the Nauvion Church in Unity

in the previous video i had renamed all the components in the SketchUp file only to find out i had named the database wrong so i had to redo everything again. the video above is the result of me naming it correctly.

Issues faced

  • I had trouble renaming all the components in the database it was really tiring and i tried ways to group components so i could rename them.
Solution

  • By pressing shift and selecting all the mesh components under each object in the unity file i was  able to select them all at once. I then realised the onyl way to rename them was to go to the right window where the names were and rename them there, otherwise they could not be renamed.

Remuneration Reflection

Team - Anders & Josh
Project - The Last Suprematist Sculpture

I liked the idea of the duo showing a salary graph of different architectural related occupations. I found it interesting that CAD drafter had one of the lowest incomes and that interior was the highest at $900 000 maximum. When they presented the pros and cons of being a freelancer as opposed to working for a company, i found it very useful as it made me think of how i could plan my future career and the direction i could take it. With the group presenting this information it made things easier as they did the research for me.

One example of a difference they demonstrated was that as a freelancer you can work for the hours you want but it can become very stressful. If you dont like the stress it would be easier to work for a business. It was made clear to me that different locations in Australia have different salaries despite having the same occupation.

The invoice video was helpful. The group gave a very in depth tutorial on how to submit an invoice. they talked about what details you will need in the invoice, which is 2 weeks then you can get paid. I also found it helpful that there is a software called time doctor which can track the usage and hours of work you put into your work. It can pick up websites and programs that you use.

Overall i found the presentation very engaging and interesting and learned a lot from it, i love when i watch a presentation and come out knowing i learned something new. I think this team so far had the best presentation this semester as the topic was very relevant and useful to me.

Week 14 - Nouvious - Renaming the components in the second church

This is a video of me renaming all the components in the second church.

Week 13 - Background Design, Options page & about page

I was given the role to create the background for every page besides the main menu. I came up with an old Gothic looking background with the map of France and church of Cercueil to fit the theme of our project. I also designed so that the buttons on these pages can be clicked on so that it can take you to another page. The results are shown below in the images

What i learned
  • I was able to understand how coding works and how to create scripts so that i can click on a button which takes me to another page.
  • I learned how to create a background and insert it into unity.
Problems Faced
  • I had trouble with the code as i had simple compilation errors. they consisted of me not adding ";" at the end of the code.

Week 13 - exploding & renaming the 26 campaign sections to FBX and SKP files

This is a video of me exploding the campaigns. I exploded the 26 campaigns and turned them into individual FBX and SKP files. This was done so that the timeline script can show every individual campaign in unity.

Problems

  • The naming of the files was wrong. i had named the files for example "CERSE_2a~150" i had to go into unity and rename them to "CERSE_2a_BAS~150" so it could connect to the database. I had to do this for all components. The results are shown below of the campaigns in unity working with the timeline.

Conflict Reflection

Team - Jesharlah, Reina, Eugelyn, Rochelle, Paul
Project - Aerial Rope way in a World Heritage Environment

The presentation was presented very well. The information orally explained was great. Most members were clear when presenting and interesting to listen to. The slides were nicely laid out and easy to read. The colours were simple and i liked the idea of having the important parts of the presentation being highlighted in colour. The presentation made me see things from another perspective as it made me realize that when working in groups i should consider understanding and acceptance of different cultures. It really opened my eyes. I like how the group mentioned different backgrounds and identities and being aware of your own background, which can cause conflict in groups.  The video was well made and gave a clear idea of how conflict can occur in a group assignment. I could relate to the video as ive been in a similar situation in the past which really got me into their presentation. Overall the presentation could have been improved in terms of what sort of conflict the team experienced and how they could resolve conflict in their team.

Team - Benjamin, Daming, Hanbing
Project - The Suprematist Motorbike

I could not understand most of the presentation as the person giving the presentation was very hard to understand and very quiet. When Ben presented it was very clear and easy to understand. The PowerPoint presentation was simple to read and well presented, although the aesthetics of it was very bland and uninteresting. There was very a lot of reading from their script however their presentation did not have blocks of texts and i disliked the fact they read of the powerpoint presentation. The points on the power point were decent and the amount of information was pretty high considering there was only 3 people in the team.
The video was great with nice effects and clear audio. It was very professional and it demonstrated different conflict examples. The video touched on all the topics they discussed in their powerpoint.

Overall the entire presentation was good despite the fact i could not understand some of he members properly as they were not clear when talking. The information was there and the video sold the deal. The team did a good job.

IP Reflection

Team - Vedran & Alyssa
Project - The Last Suprematist Sculpture

This team did the same topic as we did. I think they had covered a fair amount of topics as the team is only consisted of two people. I quiet enjoyed the video during the beginning of the presentation, it was my favorite part. The oral presentation
could be better presented and have more detail in some areas. I wanted to know more about designs plant breeders rights but I was let down as it wasn’t engaged any further. Some people in the team did not present orally as well as others and it was kinda hard to understand what they were saying. Overall the presentation was descent and i think they covered a decent amount of information when talking about IP. I also thought the information was thorough on how it relates to their project.

Team - Stefan, Ricky, Dorothy, Alan, Maki
Project - The Creation of Gothic Architecture

I personally think my team did very well. I liked how most of the team were loud and thought that the areas covered were very in depth. We had tons of information on how IP relates back to our project and i think we covered all areas whilst making it interesting. The videos maybe could have been better, for example i think if we were in the video instead of a cartoon it might potentially have been more engaging but it got the point across. The referencing was very well done in my opinion by having them under each slide. I personally think i could have done a better job orally presenting as i dont think i came out as being confident but rather dull and boring at times. Overall i was pleased with our presentation and it exceeded my expectations on how it was going to go.
